Finally, Baba Suwe Excretes 16 Pellets Of Cocaine, Cries like baby

The arrest of Nollywood comic actor, Babatunde Omidina over hard drug is the latest gist in town at the moment. The widower who was arrested on his way to Paris a fortnight ago, we scooped, has excreted over 16 pellets of cocaine last night. A source in the anti-drug agency said that the controversial drug peddler cum Yoruba actor has already excreted some of the drugs he ingested while a large quantity is still lodged in his abdomen. Another reliable source said the suspect has been given a cup of tea to drink that will enable him excrete the remaining drugs while he has been placed on observation. If you recall, this same offence was committed by Baba Suwe about two years now but he had his way out of the situation and called it 'mere rumour' but it's so obvious now that what he tagged as rumour then is now a reality. Baba Suwe, we learnt, has been crying like a baby and pleading for forgiveness but all his pleas are to no avail. While serious investigation is going on to know how he came about it, some top marketers are alleged to be busy inducing officials of NDLEA with huge bribe to get him out of the dragnet. We gathered. We shall keep you posted as event unfolds.

WHO WILL WEAR THE NIGERIAN CROWN? ..the search is on

In the last two decades , male pageants have evolved and have received alot of attention in the world. With the advent of various male pageant, the most popular ones being Mister World , Mister International, Manhunt International , Mister Earth and Mister Universe model, there has been the birth of male pageants in Africa , especially in South Africa, Angola and Tanzania as these countries bid to send representatives to these pageants. Other male pageants in the world not as popular as those above are Mister Globe , Mister Tourism International , Mister Tourism Planet , Mr Tourism World , Mr Tourism Quest , Top Model of colour , Mr United Nations, and Miser Handsome world. In 2007 , Nigeria saw its first Male pageant hosted by Silver Bird Entertainment, Mr Nigeria 2007.
Bryan Okwara , Mr Nigeria 2007.

The Mr Nigeria pageant selects Nigeria’s representative to the Mister World pageant and the maiden edition of the pageant was won by Bryan Okwara. This action by Silver birth saw the birth of other male pageants in the country which have differentiated themselves in their objectives and affiliated themselves with other male pageants. The ‘big three’ male  national pageants in the country are Mr Ideal Nigeria, Mr Nigeria and the Model of Africa.
Mr Ideal Nigeria 2011, Ayotunde Ajiboye of Kwara State, Nigeria's delegate to Mr United Nations 2012

Mr Ideal Nigeria, which google tags Nigeria’s most anticipated male pageant is geared towards not only finding a sexy man but also helping them start their own business hence it has been regarded as a business pageant since its inception in 2010 since its winners become CEOs of their own companies before their reign is over. The pageant selects Nigeria’s representative to Mister Earth, and Mr United Nations and is produced by Twitch & Stiles Events owned by Ayotunde Fabamwo.  The winner of this pageant receives major endorsements including cover model of Ultimate fitness magazine, Africa’s number 1 fitness magazine. The current winner of the pageant is Ayotunde Ajiboye.
Kenneth Nwadike of Imo , Model Of Africa 2011, Nigeria's delegate to Mister International 2011

Model of Africa- Nigeria is another male pageant that received massive press attention at their maiden edition in 2011 and selects Nigeria’s representative to Mister International, a franchise formally owned by the Duke of Nigeria pageant which also started in 2007. The pageant is produced by Ovo ogufere of XA models and the current winner is Kenneth Nwadike

The Mr Tourism Nigeria is another addition to the male pageant industry, its the only path to the Mister Tourism Planet international pageant held in Greece every year.

Now, it isn’t the other male pageants that are looking for attention now but the Mr Nigeria , the oldest male pageant in the country. Kenneth Okoli , who is the reigning Mr Nigeria will take his final walk on the 29th of October at Silver bird Galleria, and now Nigeria is wondering who wil take over from him and represent Nigeria at the Mister World in the summer of 2012, who knows maybe this time , Mr Nigeria will take over from the current Mr World Ibrahim Kamal who is half Nigerian as well. Our selections of the 3 who are likely to clutch the crown include:
Oscar Okwachi , Mr Nigeria 2011?

Oscar Okwachi:  He stands at 6 ft and attends University of Calabar. He was 2nd runner- up at the Mr Ideal Nigeria 2011 and the reigning Mister Naijatrek. His personality and looks stand out. VIDEO OF THE CHINESE TODDLER THAT GOT RUN OVER BY TWO TRUCKS AND IGNORED BY SEVERAL PASSERS-BY

I read about this before and felt really bad but just found the video on youtube and thought I should share. I feel so bad that something as terrible as this happened. How is it possible that a toddler is hit by a bus, ignored by passers-by, later on hit by a truck  and then ignored by several passers-by. GOSH!!

"Footage is taken from a surveillance camera presented on local TV shows Yue Yue was walking in a hardware market in Foshan, Guangdong province, on Thursday, about 100 meters away from her home, when she was run over by a van at 5:26 pm.

The girl was then run over by a light-duty truck. The riders of four electric bicycles, a tricycle and three passers-by all chose to ignore her and no one at a shop close to the scene came to her aid.

Seven minutes after she was first hit by the van, a 57-year-old rag collector noticed the girl and moved her to the curb. The woman then tried talking to the shopkeeper but received no response. When she ran from shop to shop for the identity of the girl, the rag collector was told by a number of shopkeepers to mind her own business.

She then walked into the street and a few seconds later, the girl's mother appears and rushes away with the girl.

The girl received emergency surgery in Foshan before being transferred to the General Hospital of the Guangzhou Military Command of the People's Liberation Army in Guangzhou on the same day.

The incident is the latest example of passers-by acting indifferently to victims injured in crimes. In this case, some blamed the parents for letting the girl walk on the street alone. More criticized the phenomenon of people passing by without helping, caused at least in part by previous extortion attempts from the injured and their families who have sometimes tried to blame the person helping.

-------------- 16 / 10 / 2011 News Update --------------

Chinese authorities have supposedly have caught the first driver (the second is no worse in my opinion). "If she is dead, I may pay only about 20,000 yuan ($3,125). But if she is injured, it may cost me hundreds of thousands yuan," said the driver over the phone to the media, before he gave himself up to the police.

The girl has been pronounced "brain dead" by doctors and remains on life support in intensive care.

"She couldn't breathe on her own," said Wen Qiang, deputy director of the ICU department.

The most optimistic estimate is that the girl will remain in a vegetative state on life support.

-------------- 17 / 10 / 2011 News Update --------------

Police have detained both drivers.

-------------- 17 / 10 / 2011 News Update --------------

Unconfirmed reports that the toddler died on 16 / 10 / 2011:
"...doctors said the girl died yesterday from severe brain injuries she had suffered in the accident." "

-copied from the info attached to the youtube video

its indeed a wicked world and according to the statement made by the driver, he is sure hoping she dies so he can be asked to pay less.
*sigh*
may her soul rest in perfect peace.

much luv,

Was this Gaddafi's grisly end? Picture claimed to be Libyan dictator after he was killed when rebels finally captured his last stronghold

  • Conflicting reports say leader may have only been wounded
  • Mobile phone image appears to show bloodied dictator
  • 'Found in a hole' wearing military-style clothing, shouting 'Don't shoot'
  • Revolutionary troops report early-morning convoy trying to flee
  • Nato bombed compound in Sirte before capture was announced

Slumped against the bloodied legs of a revolutionary fighter, this is the picture which Libyan rebels say confirms that deposed leader Muammar Gaddafi has been killed.
The former Libyan dictator was reportedly found cowering in a hole in the ground at the centre of Sirte, after rebels moved through the seaside town during their final assault.
Fighter Mohammed Al Bibi told reporters that the toppled tyrant had pleaded 'Don't shoot, don't shoot' as he attempted to surrender.
There were multiple reports in the Arab press that he died after suffering wounds to the legs.

Mobile phone footage, released shortly after the news of his capture broke, appears to show a bloodied Gaddafi being manhandled.
Rebels said he had been armed with a golden pistol when he was found and was wearing a khaki uniform.
National Transitional Council official Abdel Majid Mlegta said: 'He [Gaddafi] was also hit in his head. There was a lot of firing against his group and he died.'
He said Gaddafi was gunned down as he tried to escape, while another fighter said the dictator had been hit in the stomach at least once with a 9mm bullet.
Gaddafi and his family have been on the run since Nato and rebel forces started closing the net on Tripoli in mid-August.
Double celebration: Anti-Gaddafi fighters celebrate the fall of Sirte, but the news soon came that the leader himself had been captured

The reports of Gaddafi's capture came on the same day that revolutionary forces said that they had taken control of Sirte - the leader's home town.
Initial reports from CNN and the National Transitional Council (NTC) said Gaddafi was in custody, while Al Jazeera reported that a ‘big fish’ had been caught but did not provide a name. Al Jazeera later joined Al-Arabiya in saying that Gaddafi had been killed, but did not provide any further information.
Sky News reported that Gaddafi had been wounded in both legs prior to his capture. He was wearing a military-style uniform.

Libya's transitional government forces have taken full control of the city - the last stronghold of Gaddafi loyalists. Gaddafi's presence there would explain why fighting had been so intense in the past few weeks.
Al Jazeera reported spontaneous celebration in cities like Benghazi and Tripoli, with people cheering and shouting, car horns sounding and small arms fire being heard.
After weeks of fierce fighting the NTC announced that it had 'taken control' of the city. But as revolutionary forces celebrated in the city, reports came of Gaddafi's capture.

The NTC said that, in the early hours of the morning, at least five cars carrying loyalist fighters attempted to escape the city.
A senior official with Libya's National Transitional Council told Reuters that Gaddafi was captured near his hometown of Sirte at dawn as he tried to flee in a convory that came under attack from NATO warplanes.
The official also said the head of Gaddafi's armed forces, Abu Bakr Younus Jabr, was killed during the capture of the former Libyan leader.
The NTC said Sirte's fall would be the point at which it would declare Libya liberated. The transitional authorities have said a new government would then be formed within a month, and the current administration would resign.
The U.S. State Department said today it could not confirm that Gaddafi had been captured.
White House officials were not immediately available to comment. The Pentagon also said it could not confirm the reports.
It is understood that Gaddafi’s son Saif has also been captured by rebels.
There were some reports that NATO had bombed a compound shortly before Gaddafi’s reported capture.
Gaddafi's killing is the most dramatic single development in the Arab Spring revolts that have unseated rulers in Egypt and Tunisia, and threatened the grip on power of the leaders of Syria and Yemen.
His capture followed within minutes of the fall of Sirte, a development that extinguished the last significant resistance by forces loyal to the deposed leader.
The capture of Sirte and the death of Gaddafi means Libya's ruling NTC should now begin the task of forging a new democratic system which it had said it would get under way after the city, built as a showpiece for Gaddafi's rule, had fallen.

OBSESSION

From the mundane, heathen and spiritual is a distinct cry for mercy, a plea from the heart. An insidious request blossoming from the mind, having the tendency to be both destructive and life generating, first a thought of peace and then disaster; the hopeless, harmless expression of oneself without any iota of doubt that you are living for something extra-ordinary.
Teach me to pray is about obsession of one for another, like a dagger to the heart comes this questionable regret. It is about transcending from normal to paranormal then to the insaneous sanity depicting your knowledgeable foolishness and thoughtful mindlessness.

We never thought for once that our genuine affection for another could lead to an obscene destruction of our mind, and our person; never knowing we could transcend our emotions to the point where living without another becomes the very dread our soul faces. Being able to be dependent on our own self, we prided ourselves in the dispensability of others, we never gave a thought to the mind numbing, gut wrenching paralysis that came from losing another.

The willingness to give your life for another in the hope that you would never be disappointed, so you give them your own life just to be able to drink from their own elixir, you start to survive on their survival. A shadow of your own life force you have become, and the blizzard of emotions that surround you is something you cannot relate with.
The indecent trust you place on them giving your life in exchange just to see that they wake up with breath without a thought for your existence. You start to borrow your life, just so that you can be able to live it; you sold your elixir of life for cheap pittance.

Suddenly, your world turns upside down, you see your dreamy life become a series of nightmare, you cry out the plea and the question for mercy just like you were taught in prayer. You grovel, you plead, and you despair. Your prayer of adoration becomes a string of penitence, petition and intercession; where there should have been thanksgiving for your selflessness and generosity.

Praying your prayer should be answered, you offer up your body for the redemption of your fallen spirit, ‘take me’ you say, being lifeless and formless, you lay hurdled in a spot gasping for the breath that no longer tangos with your heart… the scales finally fall from your eyes, you had given your soul to another mortal, whose only pride and joy existed in the annihilation of your life from your body.

Your spirit is weak and caves in, giving room for the demons that threatened to possess you. You have nothing left to give again, you grope in the darkness looking for the key to the peace you once felt, the joy that exuded from your heart, and the infrastructure of reassurance that existed for you back then. You shouldn’t have given in to the urge of falling on your knees to ask, yielding your body as the ultimate sacrifice.
You have been turned into a protective mess, one kept rubbish, and a decent waste whilst another bask in the gratification of what has become of you.

With one last push you bury the inner turmoil, struggling to let your voice be heard, you scream silently “Teach me to pray”, you fall flat, weak but then you smile knowing that a slow release has

come, healing for your malady, medicine for your obsession; the supernatural heard your cry and you know within yourself that your prayers have been answered.

The Significant Other

Hi, I'm back again and just like everyone knows I bring my controversies with me. Contrary to your belief, the significant other I mean here is not the 'cliched' spouse of a person, I am talking of the mistress or master that is involved in the affair. Well, it is without dispute that these sect are outcast and the only thing applicable to them is civility when their affairs burst out in the open. I am of the opinion then that reasons surrounding their choices to be mistresses is valid in their own eyes, I do not as always condemn because I can relate to how they feel, and how they might think. Have you ever wondered what happened? why they just woke up one day and decided to change their minds after possibly taking an oath never to date an 'owned' man. Well, I have and I have been able to understand it because I have found myself in this position where I have been tempted to just sleep with a married person and get away with it, not because I wanted to feel the thrill but because I didn't see a future in it. Of course you are wondering if that even makes sense at all, of course it does, look at it, for most of these mistresses; their lives have been one that has been filled with pain and pain to them is like a drug they can't do without. So they see a person that's attached and the first thing they think is pain, pleasure plus no future... stupid uhn, I think not! The judgement that is passed down to these people is in itself degrading, their lives are shattered and they are ear-marked for life. It reminds me of the story of the scarlet thread where the man is forgiven and the woman is made to live like an outcast in her village to the day of her death, isn't that just terrible? why have the instigators never been punished, most times they end up getting a stern 'don't do it again' and that's all it takes from their partners. To me, the significant other is not just the wife or the husband but the one who is left with a stigma in all these. They will feel stupid, why won't they, their self esteem will be dragged in the mud, and they will feel so hopeless that they cause pain but I think they know that this is how it was meant to be it right from the start, so their life is shelfed and then they feel caged to a particular thinking that they want to break free from but can't without help; they end up being battered and bruised and grossly inconvenienced knowing with every ounce of their being that their security is in danger but still they continue, hoping that with each pain they feel or know, another person is being inflicted with worse. So, yes, they are the significant other, the very thought of them is a threat to the legitimate partner, a scandal to their lover and disappointment to all those that are fatally involved with them and pulled into their circle. They move stealthily because they cannot dare to be open, they live shaded lives... so in my own opinion, they don't need to be blamed further or made to think that their lives are seemingly worthless. they have enough on their plates than to be constantly barraged with cruelty. There, you have it, what to do with these information now is what counts; it hurts all round; both the bruised, the injured and the instigator is scarred for life but these air marked consequences that damage the personality of everyone involved is without doubt the only solace that the mistress seeks.
luv, Tinu

Boko Haram Celebrates Victory, Gives Condition for Peace

Members of the now dreaded Islamic sect, Boko Haram, on Sunday celebrated the inability of the Nigerian State to celebrate the nation’s 51st independence anniversary at the usual venue - Eagle Square - owing to threats by them and MEND, that bombs will be used freely in the nation’s capital if the celebration was carried out.

Confirming that the fear of Boko Haram is now the beginning of wisdom, an insider security source said: “We have not rested since last Thursday and there is no indication that we would rest soon because we may be deceived that they have had a change of mind to attack. So the security cordons will go on until we are satisfied the risk threats have reduced”. Meanwhile, spokesman of Boko Haram, Abu Qaqa, in an email message sent to newsmen on Sunday boosted that “the country would not have peace until...
there is 100 percent implementation of Sharia law in the country as enshrined in the Holy Quran as well as immediate release of all our members who were detained and in the custody of security agencies for no just cause”.

He said the group is not satisfied with the report of the Presidential committee on Security in the north on possible negotiation with the federal government, adding that they were even surprised that the committee told Nigerian that they have had a meeting with Boko Haram in the course of their investigation.  He insisted that no committee ever sat with their group.

Abu Qaqa totally dismissed the recommendation of the committee to involve the Sultan of Sokoto, Emir of Bauchi or Abubakar Giro in the negotiation talk, adding: “All these people are not respected by the sect members, and could not mediate for them."

So, the question now is: 'Boko Haram, who do you people respect? And how do we bring them to the table for negotiations'? Please, enough of the threats, bombings and killings. Please!

Nigerian Woman Dies at Home, Resurfaces in Benin Republic

Her story reads like a thriller: the type only a great novelist could spin. However, the somewhat grace-to-grass context and the many twists and turns of her life’s tale could make some of the classic tragedies spun by dramatist extraordinaire Sophocles of ancient Greece appear less calamitous.

First she died in Nigeria, was properly buried and forgotten, then suddenly she appeared in Benin Republic with a new life. Now she’s dead again. And this seems to be the real dead end. To be candid, ruminating on this woman’s chequered sojourn on earth makes one to remember one of James Hardley Chase’s crime thrillers. This is so because at the end of series of fragmentary sequences; you are still left wondering, if you got this one right.

Initially, telephone numbers purportedly belonging to one of her believed children was flying around. But then, on one occasion during which the said son was traced on phone, he told them that his mother died a long time ago and that he was not going to come to claim the corpse of another woman. He had moved on with his life in northern Nigeria.

Right now, no one is owning up to still have the contact address or phone number of this mystery son. The same story is told of...
some documents removed from the late woman’s home. The official of the Nigerian community allegedly handed everything to the Beninoise authority. Yet no trace. Confusion and more confusion.

Such was the variegated nature of this subject’s life that at some point, she served in the officer cadre of one of the nation’s armed forces only to die unloved and abandoned, and her corpse unwanted. This was a woman that actually lived overseas at some point; she apparently enjoyed the famed, good life as a spinster; and, at the domestic level was married and had children.

Sadly, however, everything eventually went so kaput that she died a lonely and forsaken woman. So unwanted was she, that her children and practically every other family member did not only shun her in the twilight of her life but denied her outright, when informed she had passed on and that her body was waiting to be claimed in a morgue in a neighbouring foreign country – Benin Republic.

The deceased gave up the ghost a few minutes after midnight on May 2, 2011; and, her remains were immediately deposited at Morgue Le Pardon, the only funerary in Djeregbe. This place - Djeregbe – is roughly 10 minutes’ drive from Porto Novo, capital of Benin Republic; and, coming from Seme-Krake, near Nigeria’s extreme south-western frontier; Djeregbe is barely five minutes’ drive after turning right at Porto Novo roundabout.

However, it must be pointed out that the woman’s offspring have not abandoned the body due to financial implication. The deceased was a very wealthy person, and the sale of a fraction of her estate will easily raise the money to pay off any bill accruing from her death and funeral.

It would therefore seem that the offspring’s rejection of any relationship with the dead woman arises from fear of exposure of kinship to one who was sick or worse still, for other reasons which; as some are wont to conjecture, could even be considered sinister. If the contents of a video, we shall soon refer to are anything to go by; the woman was allegedly initiated into a secret society sometime in 2005 by some juju worshippers in Akesan Town, Lagos.

Indeed, the initiation was embedded in a house-warming ceremony. It is hard to say, whether or not she was conscious of what she was walking into at the time; for, even on film she was barely lively, instead of jubilant, whereas she was the celebrant of a house-warming ceremony. Interestingly, anyone watching the recording of that event would immediately notice the absence of guests during the Lagos celebration; which contrasts sharply with what transpired, when she held a similar party in Djeregbe near Porto Novo in Benin Republic.

Truly, there are many twists and turns to this convoluted tale. Could a woman that died years ago in Nigeria die again in Benin Republic? Could someone or some people have done her in, in order to inherit her wealth? It is believed that apart from the house she owned near Porto Novo, the woman also had some landed properties in Lagos; receipts and building plans of such estates were found among her belongings, according to a reliable source. Interestingly, too; a receipt was found confirming she had secured a sepulchre for her burial in London, the same respondent added.

If documents reportedly found among her possessions are to be believed; there was hefty life insurance dividend to be picked by her heir in the event of her death. Is it possible that such dividend had since been claimed, while the woman was languishing in pain, misery and loneliness; whereas a funeral had been held for her? If this is true, then who collected such benefits; and, who signed her death certificate, and where was it issued? Where and when was she buried? Also, who organised a bogus funeral party to mark her departure from planet earth; when the woman was still alive?

Her health had deteriorated drastically over the week preceding her transition, but she wouldn’t stand any talk of going to see a doctor. However, late in the night of May 1, her condition was so bad and the woman so weak she couldn’t even protest, when one Isideen and another of her tenants put her atop a Zemidjan (a motorbike) to take her for urgent medical attention. It would seem that workers at the first hospital the young men took the woman to refused to admit her and directed Isideen and co to take her elsewhere. All the while, the woman; sandwiched between the two men on the bike to prevent her from falling, had been panting profusely.

As the men rode toward another clinic, the woman suddenly exuded a loud sigh: she had just breathed her last. Alarmed, Isideen and his co-tenant started shouting “Mummy, Mummy”, but no response came; for the woman had given up the ghost. Now, instead of depositing her at a hospital, the young men were compelled to take the body to the only morgue in town.

For roughly five years, the lady lived in her storey building with five tenants in Quartier Yekponawa, not too far from Djeregbe’s Quartier Zongo neighbourhood. She called her house, which stands roughly 200 metres off the highway linking Cotonou to Porto Novo, La Ville Romuero. The highest-paying of the woman’s tenants was charged CFA15,000 (about N5,000) monthly. Three other tenants paid CFA10,000 (N3,500) each, monthly; while the rental for the fifth occupant was CFA7,000 (N2,300) for the same period.

Strangely, this landlady occupied the uncompleted upper floor of her two-floor house. This top floor was mostly unroofed and many rooms lack windows and doors, yet she chose to live in this quarter, while giving out the finished rooms on the ground floor to tenants. Curiously, she kept none of her valuables upstairs, where she lived.

Her belongings were divided between the rooms of two of her tenants, one of them Isideen. She occasionally ate in the rooms of these two tenants. Her moveable property included five sealed boxes, a few bags and other boxes that were not locked. It was inside one of these unlocked boxes that a video recording of the woman’s funeral, purportedly after her death decades ago, was found.

Sources told Daily Sun the woman probably suffered psychological, if not psychiatric, challenges years before her transition. Once, she had an acquaintance called Samson; but, it would seem the woman sent him packing sometime before she died. Sadly, no one could locate Samson now; and, none was sure that even he had any clue as to the woman’s relations or friends. After parting ways with Samson, the woman neither went visiting anyone nor did anyone ever came to visit her for all the years that she lived in the compound.

No one remembered ever seeing her cook. “Mummy rarely ate any food”, said one respondent. One of her tenants, who spoke on condition of anonymity, revealed she drank frequently: Guinness was her preferred brand, but when out of pocket; the woman settled for native gin. In fact, she showed signs of bloating a few weeks to her death, we were told.

Some respondents’ conjecture is that the late woman had at least two sons, whom; going by photographs taken decades ago, must be above 40 years today. Among such people’s guess is that Mr. Percy (surname withheld) is a man believed to be one of her children. From this man’s first name, Percy, it would seem she had him for a Christian. However, there is another man, Ahmed, believed to be her son as well. It seems likely Percy and Ahmed were sired by different men.

One respondent told us, “Mummy spoke excellent French, English and Yoruba”; however, another throw-up in and around Djeregbe was that the woman probably hailed from Calabar. They hinged their guess on the lady’s abhorrence of filth. Further probe into the woman’s origins led to the discovery that her maiden name sounded like one from “the Calabar area”. Alhaji Yusuf Salami, President of Nigerian community in Porto Novo, who had accompanied local police personnel to the late woman’s house and the morgue, where her body was deposited; confirmed her maiden name hinted at Calabar origins. Unfortunately (and strangely), Alhaji Salami said he could not recall that name.

He said that after being contacted, he had done the best he could as leader of the local Nigerian community and had properly briefed the Nigerian embassy of his findings. Subsequently, he had washed his hands off the matter; which now lay with the Nigerian embassy and Beninoise authorities. “If you want any information on this matter, please; go to the Nigerian embassy”: this was Alhaji Salami’s advise to us, when we contacted him on phone.

After deeper probes, we were at some point told that the deceased was Miss Margaret Ekanem Utip. We were also told that her husband’s grandfather was a half-caste, and the man’s white grandfather, Mr. Audifferen (first name not known) died in 1933. However, the most baffling of all is the 2005 ceremony in Lagos, celebrated as Warming of late Margaret Ekanem’s House.

In 1979, one Miss Omodele Ayo Audifferen, who lived at Number 1, Odo Ogun Close in South West Ikoyi; was a student of Federal School of Arts and Science (FSAS), Victoria Island, Lagos. A student’s ID card, signed December 12, 1979, carries the portrait of a pretty young lady that probably morphed into a charming woman.

While studying for her A Levels at FSAS, she was in the group MSD, which means she was of the Morning Session classes and that her subject combination was Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Successful products of FSAS SD groups usually went on to study medicine, pharmacy, biochemistry, life sciences and related courses.

And, going by leads; which include epaulettes that show the wearer went through the rank of Mid-Shipman before being promoted a Sub-Lieutenant, found among the deceased’s belongings, the late woman belonged to one of these professions. Moreover, she probably served in the Medical Corps of the Nigerian Navy, going by some leads. Could this be the late one, whose body is lying unclaimed in Porto Novo?

Interestingly, during the house-warming ceremony, dubbed House-warming ceremony of late Chief (Mrs.) Ekanem Audifferen; the woman was variously called Doctor and at least once addressed as Mrs. Abidu. In the same video, the said Mrs. Abidu was described as “the last child of late Chief (Mrs.) Audifferen”. This late Chief (Mrs.) Audifferen could well be one-time Miss Ekanem Utip, who hailed from Oku in Ikot Offiong, Calabar. Born in Beua, now known as Victoria, in Western Cameroon; the young Ekanem Utip had her primary education at Government Secondary School, Beua from 1933 to 1941.

The house in question stands at Number 10 Kassim Achiomu Street in Akesan Town, off LASU Road; going by the address found on the cartridge of a video recorded by SOAJ Video and Film Production, which in December 2005 gave its studio’s address as 220 Ijegun Road, Ile-Ibadan Bus stop in Ikotun, Lagos.

Curiously, a year after that purported posthumous housewarming took place, she turned up in Cotonou, the economic capital of Benin Republic. It remains unclear, where she resided in those days; for Samson, who might know; having served the woman for years, could not be located. In any case, in 2006, she bought a house, which was still under construction in Djeregbe and made home there.

The late Mrs. Abidu was probably sibling with one-time Master Ekundayo Essien Audifferen, who was baptised on August 5, 1961 at the Cathedral Church of Christ, Lagos. Ekundayo Essien Audifferen subsequently had his Confirmation and First Communion at the same church on June 4, 1978, a year before Omodele Ayo enrolled for Sixth Form studies at FSAS, Lagos. The duo were probably related to one Mr. S.B. Audifferen, resident of House 18, Nevern Rd, SW London; going by an address found on the envelop of a letter sent by one Dr. Audifferen from Number 10 Boyle Street, Lagos.

On Nigerian Embassy Cotonou
The unfolding saga of Nee Audiferen’s life and eventual death in Benin Republic as well as the fact that her body is still lying in a local morgue four months after her passage has once again thrown up doubts about the efficiency and diligence on the part of officials of Nigeria’s foreign missions. It could be recalled that Nigerian Embassy Cotonou had come under severe criticisms in the past for its staffers’ lackadaisal attidtude to work. In deed, Nigerian Embassy in Cotonou was virtually loathed by all; Yoruba, Igbo and Hausa communities alike.

September 2 marked 120 days since the former Miss Audiferen died. Questions would be asked as to what the Nigerian Embassy Cotonou has done over the four-month period with regard to unveiling her identity and subsequently getting the dead woman’s relations to come and collect her body for burial. At least one official at Nigerian Embassy Cotonou had mooted the idea of selling the deceased woman’s house. The explanation for this seems to be to raise money to pay morgue fees and other bills, Daily Sun gathered from reliable sources.

However, perceived foot-dragging on the part of the local Nigerian mission in treating the matter has fuelled speculation that those contemplating the sale of the woman’s property had erected hedges to prevent access to information on the dead woman. That way, according to conspiracy theorists, those hoping to reap where they did not sow could then sell the woman’s belongings at give-away prices to themselves under the excuse that no relative of the deceased could be traced.
